Venue:
Laurel Ridge State Park, PA
Details:

Western PA Orienteering Club are inviting you to a ski orienteering event at Laurel Ridge on Jan 7 - this is using a map & compass to plan and ski the best route from each point to the next around the course, finding the flags as you go. Instruction in orienteering & loaner compasses are available. There's a short course (1.8 km) and a long course (4.4 km) for you to try. The quoted distances are as the crow flies, so the distance skied will be a little longer. The short course is suitable for kids & beginners.

Registration and start can be at any time from 10 am to 1 pm, & will be in the upper (smaller) warming hut. Skiers must return by 2.30pm.

The event entry fee is $5 for WPOC members and $6 for non-members. There's also the usual trail fee that needs to be paid to the concession ($8 for people age 13 and older; $4 for 12 and under).

If you have a map holder, bring it.  If not, your map can be tucked under your belt (water bottle holder belt) for easy viewing.
